FAQ about CoolSculpting
Does CoolSculpting Really Work?
Yes, CoolSculpting works. It is FDA approved, for the elimination of fat with no surgery, no injections and no downtime. However, it is not ideal for everyone. It is best to obtain a consultation from a plastic surgery medical spa. Some people would love a non-surgical fat reducing treatment, but the fact is ;liposuction may be the only option for some. Other people may be concerned with excess skin. A skin elimination surgery, like a tummy tuck, might be the only option. others might be interested in improving skin tone. This could possibly be accomplished through laser skin tightening or cellulite treatments. But, not through cool sculpting. Freezing the Fat through CoolSculpting can be ideal for the right person. The best way to determine if CoolSculpting is right for you is to have a consultation with a facility that offered surgical and non-surgical options for fat elimination.
How Does CoolSculpting Work?
CoolSculpting does Freeze your Fat. This process selectively freezes fat while preserving surrounding tissues. The affected fat is then gradually eliminated from the body. This elimination process does rely on a healthy lymphatic system, which is why Blue Water Spa incorporates Vibrational therapy into their CoolSculpting Complete program as a way to possibly enhance the efficacy of a CoolScultong treatment.
How long does a CoolSculpting treatment take?
At Blue Water Spa, we have two systems that are used simultaneously. Some refer to this as DualSculpting. We prefer CoolSculpting Complete and we offer a complete CoolSculpting package at no additional cost. With two systems, two areas of the body can be treated in just an hour. Some people want four areas treated, so that can be accomplished i just two hours.
How long before I see results with CoolSculpting?
Some people report seeing changes as early as a few weeks after a CoolSculpting Complete treatment, but full results may take up to four months.
Do I need more than one treatment with Coolsculpting?
Some people are pleased with results after a single treatment, but we like people to be prepared for two treatments and sometimes possibly three treatments.
Does CoolSculpting Hurt? What about Pain with CoolSculpting?
Pain with Coolsculpting, significant pain with CoolSculpting is rare. But, if YOU are the one with pain following CoolSculpting, that's all that matters! During the treatment people will feel pulling on the area to be treated as it enters the handpiece. Then, somewhat intense cooling which typically gets numb after a few minutes. Following the procedure, the areas of crystallized fat is massaged. Some people tolerate this with no problem. Others find it somewhat uncomfortable. On rare occasions, people have reported significant pain, tingling and nerve related pain or discomfort several days following a CoolSculpting treatment. Although this is not a typical response, we feel it is very important to be prepared for this event. We have two nurse practitioners and a physician's assistant available to provide a prescription of Neurontin, a non-narcotic pain medication designed to help with nerve related pain. patients should avoid excessive anti-inflammatory OTC's or prescription anti-inflammatory meds as the inflammatory response of the body is needed for the results to take place.
Best Results from CoolSculpting - What Can I do to get the best results following my CoolSculpting procedure?
Eat a healthy diet and exercise. Daily walking can help with the lymphatic system. Drink plenty of water and hydration is important. Follow the instructions of your doctors office - always disclose complete medical history including medications you may be taking. At Blue Water Spa, we believe that compression therapy and vibrational therapy could benefit our clients, therefore we offer these treatments as part of the package at no cost. There have not been studies performed comparing the results of CoolSculpting Complete to traditional CoolSculpting, but so far our patients have been very pleased with the results.
Side Effects from CoolSculpting?
We provide a thorough complimentary consultation to be sure people are healthy and appropriate candidates. The most common side effect could be no effect. That is why patient selection is so important. We have all heard the saying "If your only tool is a hammer, the whole world looks like a nail" Not everyone is a good candidate for CoolSculpting. We will sometimes tell people they are not good candidates for CoolSculpting. It may be disappointing to hear, but better to hear that, than to spend time and money on a procedure that will not be effective for you.
What about Zerona, Non-Surgical Liposuction and other non-invasive fat removal technologies?
We have, researched, and continue to research a variety of aesthetic medical technology. Lots of modalities make many claims. But Blue Water Spa bases our decisions on safety and results. Technology will continue to evolve. With our 7,000 s.f. facility and capable staff, we will implement new technology that we believe to be safe and effective. After researching several modalities, we have found the Cryolipolysis CoolSculpting system by Zeltiq to be the safest and most effective non-surgical modality for the non-surgical elimination of fat.
Is CoolSculpting Better Than Liposuction?
In a word: NO. But, some people may be good candidates for CoolSculpting who for a number of reasons, typically the desire to have fat removed without down time, prefer to have a CoolSculpting treatment rather than liposuction. There are other people who require liposuction in order to achieve desired results.
